Chorale and Jon,
Thanks for singing so well last night at Chick-fil-a and at the Fairmont. They loved you at both places! Some of you who were ill or unable to sing on June 5 were able to join us last night, which allowed you to sing the pieces after all those rehearsals.
Everyone, thanks for a great year! To recap the last nine months, we had
- our '50's concert
- Christmas music in Manassas and Williamsburg
- Voices United with Eric Nelson
- the Hylton Dedication Ceremony
- the Hylton Family Day
- our Spring Concerts
- all our community performances
We got to sing some great music with a group of wonderful singers and friends, an outstanding accompanist, excellent guest instrumentalists and soloists to appreciative audiences in some exciting venues. As the songwriter wrote, "Who could ask for anything more?" Give yourself a pat on the back before we move onward and upward!
Those of you who had conflicts last night, please note the following:
- Please bring the music you'd like to donate by Manassas Baptist and put it on the piano bench outside my office on the top floor (newar the choir robes). We want to catalogue all this music as soon as possible.
- Survey says...please complete them ASAP and send them to manassaschorale@live.com or bring them to Becky at MBC.
- We'll have auditions for new Chorale members on July 7 at 7:00 PM in the choir room at MBC. Be in touch with someone who needs to join us and encourage him/her to audition now and be all set for our first rehearsal on August 31. Singers can call me for an audition time.
- If you want to go to D. C. next Tuesday to sing the Mozart Requiem, let me know right away. So far, I have 4 singers who are interested.
- I'll update you with specifics about the Civil War music rehearsals and performance as soon as I hear more from Ken Elston.
- I have extra Spring Concert programs for those who'd like to share them with prospective members or prospective patrons. Reply to this e-mail and I'll put your name on some and leave them out for you.
- Polo shirts are available if you ordered one. Wear it this summer to advertise our group. Warning: if you wear it to Best Buy, they'll think you work there!
Thanks again for making this a special year and a big thank you to Diana, Meryl, Susan, Wayne and all our committee chairs and members for your outstanding work! Have a great summer.

Songs from “The Weeping Tree” next Tuesday. We’ll sing “Of Tears and Sorrows” and “Alas, and Did My Savior Bleed” on Sunday, Mar. 7 at Manassas Baptist for the 9:30 AM traditional service. Concert attire.
Mayfield Intermediate School – needs cellos, string basses, tubas and baritones. Can still use copy paper.

For Saturday Jan 30 - Marvin Gillum Service. Meet at 11:50 AM in the Choir Room at Metz Middle School. We will sing at the start of the service at 1:00 PM and you may leave by 1:15 PM if needed.

Information packets for the 2011 "An American Salute" trip (June 27 - July 5) are available from Becky.
Here's the Williamsburg checklist:
- Folder with music in concert order - Angel's Carol, Star of Glory, Gloria, Star Carol, This Little Babe, Marvellous Birth, Masters, Jesu, Sleep.
- Tuxedo or black outfit, black shoes, hose, socks
- No necklaces, pins or dangly earrings
- Valuables in car trunk
- Park diagonally on Duke of Gloucester St. at the church location. To reach Bruton Parish, you may turn left on the street right behind Barnes & Noble parking lot (which faces onto Duke of G. Street). The church is in the restored area on the left side about 1 1/2 - 2 blocks down.
- Arrive at the church in concert attire or allow 15 minutes to go to the church basement and change (if you need to change, be at the church by 5:30). Be ready to sing at 5:45 PM. Since their organist is accompanying us, we want to honor her time. We'll break by 7:15 PM.
- If you're staying at the Lord Paget, Google directions that will take you directly there. It cuts off several minutes if you have these directions.
- To reach the Seasons restaurant for our post-concert meal, go back to the Barnes & Noble and turn left. The restaurant will be on the right corner after 1 long block.
- Be safe going and coming!
For Saturday Concert:
- Arrive at 4 PM. We'll practice in the sanctuary with instrumentalists (2 new ones) until just before 5 PM and then recess to the Chapel.
- All except Grace UMC singers park in school lot. Grace singers can park on upper church lot near Stonewall Road to make a quick escape after the concert.
- Valuables in trunk or under your seat.
- Items for Matthew's Center
- Black folder with music in concert order
- Tuxedo or black outfit, black shoes, hose, socks
- No necklaces, pins or dangly earrings
For Sunday Concert:
Be in chapel at 7 PM for 7:30 PM Concert. Check the website if there's a concern about weather. Same checklist as above.
For Monday at 6:30 PM at Caton Merchant House
Arrive in casual attire - black slacks and polo shirt (new ones ready on Friday) by 6:20 PM. We'll sing from 6:30-7:05 PM.
For Saturday at 12:15 PM at Osbourn HS (Cafeteria) for Toys for Tots - come at 12:05 PM to sing from 12:15 - 12:30 PM.
Casual attire. Holidays medley, Rudolph, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, etc. Plan to have fun with the kids and have a sandwich there. Last appearance, I promise!

Our first rehearsal is set for Tuesday, August 25 at 7:30 PM. Plan to come early that night since everyone will be picking up their "Fabulous Fifties" music. It will be a lot of fun!
Auditions for new and returning members will be held on Tuesday, August 18, beginning at 7:00 PM. If you know of prospective singers, please put them in contact with Becky.
The archival DVD from Carnegie Hall has arrived and is wonderful. We'll be setting up a couple of nights when we and our families/friends can view it.
One final opportunity - we'll be having a "Gospel Music Night" at MBC on Wednesday, August 26 at 7:00 PM, preceded by a "Southern Supper." Rehearsals on the music for that night will be on Wednesdays Aug. 5, 12 and 19 at 7:30 PM. You're welcome to come and sing with our adult choir those 3 weeks and on Aug. 26. Just show up in the choir room on the 3rd floor if you'd like to be part of this annual event.

Rehearsals for the 2009-2010 season begin on Tuesday, August 25 at Manassas Baptist Church. Registration will begin at 700 and rehearsal starts at 730! See you there!
